Today Trek Bicycle & World Bicycle Relief announced the “Bike of the Year” to benefit developing communities around the world. Created in partnership of Trek & WBR the Buffalo Bike is being donated to provide a useful leg up, one person at a time.
You and I take a bike for granted but a bicycle provides more than just leisurely fun, a bike is the gift that keeps on giving. A bicycle provides transportation, independence and accessibility for those who are left to walk long distances. It can also make people’s lives a little easier allowing you to carry heavy loads quicker and farther. Healthcare & education are suddenly within reach where previously travel distance and time made things nearly impossible.
Not only does a bike provide independence, the benefits extend outward to the community being locally assembled and maintained employing trained field mechanics. As of today, the World Bicycle Relief has distributed over 600,000 bikes and trained 2,500 field mechanics in Africa, Southeast Asia and South America.
“Trek will be matching donations up to $500,000”
Customer donations that go toward a Buffalo Bicycle can be made in-person at a Trek store in the U.S. or Canada or on Trek’s website globally. Trek will be matching donations up to $500,000 in hopes of raising $1 million for the non-profit.
Trek Bicycle is one of the most widely known bike brands that continues to create quality cycles from road, mountain, hybrid & electric bikes.
To make a donation to the holiday campaign, consumers can go to trekbikes.com/wbr-donate or visit one of Trek’s in-store locations in the U.S. or Canada to donate in person.
