The Kalorik Vivid Touch 7Qt Air Fryer is a great companion to your primary oven for anything from side dishes and snacks to cooking a meal. If you still haven’t embraced the air fryer, time to step up to the convenience.
While the Air Fryer isn’t the be all end all of cooking food it is quite helpful and convenient for many things like frozen foods, french fries, onion rings, hash browns but you can also cook meals in there. If you need leftovers reheated and not soggy, the air fryer is the way to go. The 7Qt capacity makes the Vivid Touch Air Fryer a little more feasible when cooking for multiple people.
Think of the air fryer as a mini convection oven on steroids.
Specs
The Vivid Touch 7Qt weighs 11.22 lbs and measures 15.68″D x 11.47″W x 13.36″H. You should be 6 inches or so away from anything on your countertop. The exhaust is straight out the back on the upper portion of the unit. This should be considered for placement and proper ventilation.
The Vivid Touch also comes in a 5Qt version that measures 15.68″D x 11.47″W x 12.41″H.
Kalorik has provided us with the Vivid Touch Air Fryer so that we could provide hands on review coverage of this kitchen appliance and our personal experiences with it to our readers. Our reviews are for educational and informational purposes only.
The front of the bucket has a double layered glass so you can turn on the light for a look at what’s going on with your food while it’s cooking without pulling out the bucket.
The footprint is certainly not small at 11.47″ W x 15.6″ D but the stainless-steel version we are reviewing does look ok on the counter, no problem there.
LCD Touchscreen
The color touchscreen is nice to look at and you can choose between light and dark modes. The LCD is very simple to use and intuitive. Everything is basically a preset with the exception of 4; Defrost, DIY, Preheat, Reheat.
Otherwise you choose from a menu of common items that are preset into memory for your convenience. When not in use you can choose to have a digital or analog clock-face to display, which times out after a min or two.
The Vivid Touch features 4 languages; English, Spanish, French, Mandarin. You can change the temperature from °F or °C.
How to Use the Vivid Touch Air Fryer
Place your food into the 7Qt container and select the preset for what you’re cooking. The preset times are measured by lvl 1, 2, 3 which correspond to the embossed markings on the inside of the bucket. The default time is level 2, which you can change in settings.
For example. Toss in some frozen waffle fries, shake the bucket to even out the fries and see what level the fries reach on the embossed lines in the bucket. It will take a few tries to dial in your favorite foods but err on the side of “its a very efficient air fryer” so lean less time/heat than more time/heat if anything.
When cooking with an air fryer it’s always a good idea to toss your food and change the angle so you get well rounded heating so the Vivid Touch gives you an audible alert at the halfway mark to remind you to do so.
Presets & Manual Controls
There are 202 preset foods and 12 categories, from steak and fish, to frozen foods and cookies and even one for popular Latin foods. If you need manual control you can use one of the 4 manual settings: Defrost, DIY, Preheat, Reheat. Each preset has a temperature and time setting so you can adjust any preset which is very convenient for calling an audible.
Cleaning
Cleaning is pretty simple and you can wash out the entire bucket after every use or wipe out at a minimum. The tray inside should also be washed after every use to maintain the integrity of the nonstick and make it last. You don’t want to get lazy with it as the grease will heat and reheat and start to solidify to the nonstick.
Pros
- Bucket Size
- Convenience, Fast & Efficient
- Easy to Use
- Versatile – Defrost, Reheat, Cook
- Front Glass Window & Light
Cons
- Countertop Size
- Needs Rubber Feet (will slide on countertop)
- Smells a bit like melting plastic initially (seems to go away after a few uses)
- Cannot save/program a preset so if you are using heating/reheating/defrost you’ll need to adjust the temp and time every time you use it, unless the default values work for you.
- Non-stick surface seems to be quite thin, but time will tell if it lasts
Chicken Wings
When cooking frozen chicken wings it may be best to cook already defrosted wings; they come out wonderful. If you toss in frozen ones the time will be much longer and you should make sure you toss them a couple times. However with frozen wings you’ll end up with lots of moisture that permeates into the adjacent areas inside the air fryer outside of the bucket.
We will be updating our review of the Vivid Touch 7Qt air fryer as time goes on with our experiences cooking different foods so check back periodically.
