Pirelli serves up the hat trick with 3 new PZero Performance competition level race-ready bike tires: the Velo TT, Velo, Velo 4S. The PZero smart tires are made of Pirelli’s new proprietary SmartNet Silica compound that brings F1 racing tire technology to road bikes. The Velo’s are the F1 tires of cycling.
If you’re a motorsport fan you know Pirelli, they make some of the best performance tires around for Cars and Motorcycles. In fact, they currently make the solely used tire in F1 racing.
The SmartNet Silica compound was developed by members of the same Pirelli research team that engineered the F1 P Zero compound and brings over some of the same technology as their motorsport cousins. This new generation high-tech molecule promises maximum and balanced road performance.
PZero Velo Competition Road Racing Tires
Three P Zero Velo, Velo 4S & TT can be identified by their color codes that coincide with their F1 motor-racing brothers. Silver, Red, Blue
At the front of the pack is the Velo TT marked in red with its F1 color code. These are more or less a set of slicks with no tread pattern to provide superior grip and maximum roll. The Velo TT’s feature puncture resistance even without a puncture resistant belt while remaining incredibly lightweight. They offer the best dry grip but add in wet grip using the Pirelli’s SmartNET™ Silica compound for all season performance.
The P Zero Velo is the most versatile of the three models. The Velo, marked in Silver provides speed and handling with dry/wet grip ability. SmartNET™ Silica and the special aramid fiber puncture resistance belt provide reliability. FGD and ICS Technologies-powered tread design provides handling confidence. The Velo is the best all-season tire of the three.
Marked in blue the Velo 4S all season tire is ideal for autumn and winter. Developed with FGD (Functional Groove Design) and ICS Technologies (Ideal Contour Shaping), the more aggressive Tread design provides handling performance and water dispersion in wet or even harsh conditions. Pirelli’s SmartNET™ Silica promotes both rolling efficiency and best wet grip of the three all season tires.
