Bovet Récital 18 Shooting Star Universal Time
Nominated in 4 of 9 categories and the Winner of the Watches With Complications category at the Luxembourg Watch Fair 2016 is not only impressive for its complex engineering features but shines with its awe-inspiring aesthetics, asymmetrical balance and functionality.
The Bovet Récital 18 Shooting Star depicts a new perspective on the Earth and Universal Time with a complimentary moon phase indicator. Two circular apertures indicates the lunar position from both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres that only needs to be corrected once every 122 years.
The Bovet Récital 18 Shooting Star or Ref. R18002 is encased in a 46mm diameter, 18.15mm, 18k white gold casebody with white polished lacquer dial and 18k white gold ardillon buckle. The Recital also features an elegant sapphire crown and is Water Resistant to 30m. All of the components are developed and manufactured in the workshops of Bovet and Bovet Manufacture.
This hand-wound modern beauty features a 17DM01-HU caliber Movement with a 5-Day Tourbillon jumping; hours minutes seconds with hemispheric universal worldwide time. Selectable time zone and ultra-compact 24 cities indicator and precision double moon phase indicators. Reminds me a lot of the Grubel Forsey GMT.
Before even commencing work on this timepiece, the technicians and watchmakers at BOVET 1822 and DIMIER 1738 Manufacture began by ‘forgetting’ their certainties and habits in order to deliver a more intuitive and innovative way of reading the time articulated around the two celestial bodies that define it: the earth and the moon.
This unique and complex beauty was to be appreciated by the Elite as there will only be 50 timepieces made for the limited edition run.
